Who AYCM Manuscript is for

AYCM Manuscript is a writing app for people 13 and older. Anyone under 18 should use it with a parent's or guardian's permission. The writing tools are private: your projects, chapters, characters and notes are yours, and nobody else sees them unless you choose to share.

The Writers Lounge is for adults only

The Writers Lounge is the app's optional community space, where writers post, comment, join groups and message each other. It is available in the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android apps. You must be 18 or older to join.

• The Lounge is optional and never switched on by default. You choose whether to join it from your AYCM account.
• Before you join, we confirm your age with a quick selfie check, run by our verification partner Didit. If the selfie can't confirm your age, you can choose to use a photo of your government ID instead. On a Mac, you scan a code and take the selfie on your phone.
• We receive only the result, never your photo or your ID, and Didit deletes them as soon as the check is done. Our Biometric Data Notice & Retention Policy has the details.
• We ask for your date of birth when you create your account, and anyone under 18 is turned away at the Lounge's door.
• On supported Apple and Android devices, the app also reads the age range your app store shares, and anyone it shows is under 18 is turned away.
• Your date of birth can't be changed once it's saved; contact support to correct a mistake.
• Children under 13 cannot reach any of the Lounge's social features.

What you might see in the Lounge

The Lounge is a community of fiction writers. Shared stories sometimes include mature themes such as violence, romance, strong language or difficult subjects, the same as you would find in published novels. Sexually explicit material, hate and harassment are not allowed.

Tools that keep you in control

• Report: report any post, comment, reply, message or group content you think breaks our rules.
• Block: block any member, and they can no longer message you.
• Privacy: choose who sees your profile: everyone, friends and followers, friends only, followers only, or only you.
• Close your account: you can delete your account at any time from the app's settings.

How we moderate

Our team reviews reports and can remove content, and suspend or ban accounts, when our rules are broken. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior.

Points are just for fun

Some groups use points for activities like writing commitments. Points have no cash value and can't be bought, sold or exchanged for money.
